She will represent Russia in Miss Universe 2011 in Sao Paulo, Brazil

March 5 – In a glittering and classy event beamed live all over the world via the internet, Miss Moscow Natalia Gantimurova won the Miss Russia 2011 crown. The first runner-up is Anastasia Mashukova of Krasnoyarsk while the second runner-up is Yana Dubnik of Novosibirsk.

Fifty women from the different oblasts, regions, republics and cities across Russia competed in the event. During the finals night the number of competitors were cut down to 15. The contestants from Pyatigorsk, Novorossiysk, Moscow, Tula, Tartastan, Nizhny Novorgood, Rostov-on-Don, Sochi, Novosibirsk, Vladivostosk, Krasnoyarsk, Kurgan, Korolev, St. Petersburg & Petrozavodsk made it to the semifinals. Top favorite Kazan and Samara failed to make it.
After the swimsuit and gown competition, the Top 10 was chosen and contestants from Sochi, Moscow, Petrozavodsk , Korolev, Tula, Novosibirsk, Rostov-on-Don, Krasnoyarsk, Vladivostok and Novorossiysk hurdled the first round.

Finally each Top 10 was asked by the judges with questions in a conversational format. Miss Vladivostok impressed the panel of judges which include the r
eigning Miss Universe Ximena Navarrete with her passable command of the English language. As Miss Russia 2011 Natalia is expected to compete at Miss Universe while the first runner-up to Miss World. Natalia also won a USD 100, 000 cash prize from the main sponsor of the event, Standard Bank.
This year’s pageant marks the first time that the event is carried live online. It was made possible through an agreement with internet portal lady.mail.ru.
